This sermon from James 1:22–25 warns that hearing God’s Word without obeying it leads to spiritual self-deception. James compares a person who hears but does not act to someone who looks in a mirror and immediately forgets what they saw, walking away unchanged. Genuine faith is revealed not by how much we know about Scripture, but by a life that consistently responds to it in obedience. The blessing of God’s Word is found not simply in understanding it, but in persevering in it and living it out.
